Healing Ancestral Wounds
Healing Ancestral Wounds
We’ve all got em. Stored epigenetically within the DNA and fiber of our beings are the wounds of our ancestors. Consider the long trajectory of our evolution. From hunter gathers, to horticulture to the more robust social expressions of agrarian societies, to the high tech gadget based world we live in now, we have evolved in so many ways. Yet, let’s face it, back in the day, life was not all that plush. Think about what it takes to go on a camping trip, or to simply spend an entire day outside. It takes a little bit of adjustment doesn’t it? But you can feel it in your bones that being out in the elements although less convenient, is also so deliciously satisfying, and well, natural, right?
Our environment is just the beginning of what our ancestors had to work with. For eon’s they had to live with the very real possibility that their primary needs of food, water, shelter, comfort and safety might not be met. And even more likely one or more of those needs were indeed unstable or in scarcity.
When we human beings have unmet needs, the day to day flow of life can become more complicated. That’s because our brains are wired to protect us and prioritize meeting un met needs.
The wounds of survival fears, wounds of violence and war, hunger, persecution, denial of basic sovereignty, hate, anger, pain, shock, worry, disease, shame, guilt… any and all emotions have the power to activate or deactivate traits in our DNA, impacting the biomechanics in our brain and body. The emotional charges both positive and negative events are also stored within the tissues of your physical body, and within the frequencies of our body’s energy fields. We grow and develop with these inherited idiosyncrasies. Imprints that’ve been woven into our personalities, patterns of behavior and beliefs of who we are.
Take a moment to consider your yourself and the nuances of your personality. What might you be carrying that is not yours? Is your Mom an anxious person, so you feel that is why you are too? Is Dad hypervigilant about saving money or ‘stuff’ just incase? Consider how this has impacted your relationship to money and physical objects.
We are certainly a complex amalgamation of inherited traits, but we’re also so much more! We are also, if we choose, to be capable of freeing ourselves from the bonds of our ancestry. To truly become the potentiated, optimized version of ourselves. You may wonder how? The answer, your consciousness. It is the access point and arena through which real change takes place in your life.
Your ancestors may or may not have believed in their ability to free themselves from the burdens of circumstance and heredity, but now, in this new age of growing understanding of the way in which your MindBody works, you can say goodbye to carrying the burdens of inherited wounds. To carve a new pathway neurologically, epigenetically and in practical terms to discover your true human legacy.
